Who is ChainWeavers?
US? Yes, I do suppose that you'd want to know exactly 'who' is ChainWeavers. Well, let me start off with a little love story...
Rick and I met back in the 80's when we both worked on the North Slope of Alaska in the Prudhoe Bay oilfields – he as an electrical maintenance engineer and I, as a police officer. Turns out, we were both born and raised in the South and we spent many hours over coffee talking about being homesick for a little sunshine and warmth – it can get pretty cold near the Arctic Ocean and just talking about being warm can do wonders for your well-being.
Fast forward to 1990 – we married in the town where I grew up... in the same church and with the same minister as my parents, back many, many years ago (let's not think about how long that's been, shall we?) We transferred back to Alaska in 1992, and then moved to Idaho in 1996 where we built our dream home and then opened our frame shop in 1999. We ran Rockeby's Custom Framing as one of the Top 100 Frame Shops in America for several years, with customer service being our highest priority. Just so you know, we've carried that same level of service over to ChainWeavers. Custom framing is a luxury and with the economy we've been struggling with, most people need their income for such things as food, clothes and the mortgage - definitely no extra cash for beautiful framing! So the decision was made in February (2011) to close Rockeby's and focus all of our time and attention on ChainWeavers. It's a decision we're completely thrilled with and are SO happy to be together working on something we both love so much!
I started mailling at Christmas in 2005, when I got several chainmaille kits from a major vendor as Christmas gifts from my wonderful mate. I completed them all within the space of a couple of days and there was no redemption for me after that... I was completely, thoroughly HOOKED and maille has been a big part of my life ever since – even when I should be doing other things. It's true... my name is Kathleen... and I'm an addict. But there is no 12-step program for recovery, and Boy! am I glad. This is one addiction from which I don't wish to recover....
So I bought chainmaille jumprings from all the same places you have – some with great jumprings, but lousy service; some with decent service, but not-so-great rings.. and then a couple with crappy rings AND service! But I started doing business with ChainWeavers and about a year later, when the owner lost interest, we bought the name and inventory and were on our way. Because of my experiences with other suppliers and sometimes 'not-so-stellar' customer service and quite a bit of 'attitude', we knew exactly what we wanted to provide for our customers. We are available any time during the day, by email and phone and we if don't have the answer to your question, we'll do our best to find it!
After a couple of years, we've learned SO much and met some wonderful customers (who are now our friends!) and the website has changed and been improved many times over. Scorch and Willa came into our lives and have inspired us on to greater heights - we hope you'll go along with us on this wild ride! And as always, please let us know if we didn't measure up to your expectations - we are human and make mistakes, but if you don't let us know, we can't improve.
So that's who we are - just folks like you who work hard every day and love what we do and share it with you!
So from us, to you... Happy Weaving!
